MY SUMMER GOALS 2020

We don’t know what the world is going to be like tomorrow but I’d like to be optimistic. If you’re a long time reader you know that every year I write a list of summer goals (check out my 2019 edition here). For 2020 I’m creating two lists, one social isolation related and one not. Safety procedures will determine which list I will work off of, perhaps I’ll complete one list or a mix of both. I guess we’ll see what happens. 2020 Summer Goals (social isolation edition) Learn how to make gnocchi  Learn the first 50 elements of the periodic table Paint something Watch all seasons of Seinfeld (except the first season because apparently it’s not worth it) Creatively celebrate the one year anniversary of Mark and I 2020 Summer Goals  Book trip to India/Nepal Buy a bouquet of fresh flowers every month Go thrift shopping and post a haul on YouTube Attend a concert, festival, fair.. literally anything that will get me outside and social again Go on a romantic weekend getaway with …

SUMMER LIST 2019 | ACCOMPLISHED GOALS

Monday was the first day of fall. AKA I’m late on this post, I get it, I know. *eye roll* Every summer I set goals. I try to accomplish them but sometimes life gets in the way and you lose motivation so you end up just feeling like a huge failure but what else is new (LOL, my mental state right now like, am I ok???). In this case I didn’t complete 1.5 of the goals I set out for myself, which isn’t THAT bad. You can read my initial Summer List 2019 post here but don’t bother because they’re also listed below (I need to drop this attitude asap)*. ANYWAY, let’s see how I did… 1. Be able to do the splits. Not exactly. I took yoga classes for a month to start myself off and learned a bunch of great stretch moves to help me out so I’m half crossing this off. 2. Film an apartment tour. As of today it has 700+ views, baby! 3. Go rock climbing. Nope, didn’t have the time but …

SUMMER LIST 2018 | ACCOMPLISHED GOALS

How is it September already?! Fall is around the corner and on my street the schools (yes, plural) are testing their recess bells so, I guess the deadline has arrived to accomplish my Summer goals for 2018. I kept them short and manageable this year because I knew this Summer I needed to get my shit together, in pretty much all aspects of my life. I still don’t even have my health card back but, I’M WORKING ON IT OK! Living away from Canada for so long leaves you a little behind compared to others but it’s a slow and steady climb. Alright, summer goals, let’s see how I did.. JESSICA’S SUMMER GOALS 2018 1. Learn the flag of every country. Technically I didn’t memorize EVERY flag, but out of 195 country flags I know 173. In my world, that’s a pretty solid amount. To practice I used an app called Name The Flag, which gave me something to do when commuting to and from work. I have a 88.75% success rate so, I’M COUNTING IT! The flags that …

MY SUMMER GOALS 2018

As I’m writing this post, there is 5ft of snow outside my doorstep (LOL.. it’s April) so writing a summer goals list feels a little odd. If you’re a long time reader (bless your sweet soul), you know that I start my list in May and go until the end of August. The month of May is exactly two weeks away (!!) and I’m about to get crackin’ on my goals whether there is still snow on the ground or not. Plz note: If there is snow fall in May, I’m literally moving my ass to Mexico. Last summer I had 10 goals I wanted to accomplish, but life got in the way and my focus shifted, leaving the list unintentionally abandoned. *cries* I did cross off a solid 6 out of 10, which is a pass, but still disappointing. Now that I am back in Canada, a majority of my summer will be spent focusing on my career so, I’ve narrowed the list down to 5 goals. Still cute and fun but manageable, ya …

SUMMER LIST 2017 | ACCOMPLISHED GOALS

This morning I looked at the date in my calendar: August 31st. It’s Thursday, which means I have soccer after work, gotta visit the bank at some point, and then.. it registered. I lowered my head in shame and muttered “ah shit” beneath my breath. Today is the deadline for accomplishing my summer goals and I’m going to be totally honest, I forget ALL about them. To be fair, I did say last year that I needed to step it up, and I ended up being too ambitious, if that’s a thing. Awell. Life goes on. Read below for my accomplishments and weak ass excuses for this years summer goals. JESSICA’S SUMMER GOALS 2017! 1. Visit Namhae Island and go to the German Village. I went on my own (because, lack of friends) but ended up meeting spectacular people along the way. The day turned out to be one of the best I’ve had in South Korea! 2. Attend Ultra in Seoul. Another event I went to all by myself (lol) but yet again I met up with wonderful people and danced the night …

MY SUMMER GOALS 2017

OH YES! My annual summer goals list is here and I am so excited I could pee my pants. Funny side note: When I visited my friend Dev the other weekend in Seoul we were walking back from dinner and I suddenly had to pee (blame it on the margaritas!). We were in the elevator of his apartment and he was making me laugh.. not a small giggle either, the on-the-ground-can’t-breathe-eyes-watering-probably-going-to-pass-out type. I made him turn around and put his nose to the corner so he wouldn’t look at me squirm but I could still see him chuckling to himself. I started laughing harder. When the elevator opened I ran to his door and bolted to the washroom. He then YELLED at me for running into his house with my shoes on, which made me laugh even more. Before I knew it, I felt a warm flow go down my legs. Yup. I peed my pants. While crouching in front of his toilet. Laughing. Shoes, still on. #bless Anyway, back to the reason for this blog post, I have compiled my …

In all seriousness, I launched Get Up & Go Girl because a fire of creativity suddenly lit inside and told me, do it. I want this channel to evolve and be an outlet for anyone to come for inspiration, a laugh, or to ask questions/start a conversation. I called it Get Up & Go Girl because I do want to focus on girl/women empowerment (but I’m inclusive so obviously anyone can be part of the community). 🙂 Working at an all girls’ school has showed me the importance of girls knowing that there is no limit of …

MY SUMMER GOALS 2016

I would have totally forgotten to make a summer goals list this year if I wasn’t just browsing through old blog posts of mine. I was reading posts from 2012 when I stumbled upon my first list of summer goals.. there were 25 of them, geezus. Click HERE to browse through how I did in 2015. This year, I wrote my summer goals as I rode the subway to Seomyeon, which is about a 15 minute ride from the station near my house. Some of my goals will shock you, some will not. Either way, SUMMER IS COMING AND I HAVE THINGS TO DO! JESSICA’S SUMMER GOALS 2016! SUMMER LIST 2015 | ACCOMPLISHED GOALS

IT IS THE END OF THE SUMMER!! Wait, what? Why did I blink and suddenly summer has come and gone.. Whether I like it or not (I guess) the summer months have indeed come to an end and you know what that means, right? Unless you’re new around here (welcome, ya rookie), it means I will go through my MY SUMMER GOALS 2015! I left my list on the shorter side this year since I knew I would have a hectic schedule and didn’t want to add pressure by adding a million goals to accomplish. I’m not a superhero. But if I was, I’d be Wonder Woman or The Hulk. Enough talk, let’s go through my summer list 2015 of accomplished goals together, shall we? 1. Vlog entire summer YES! OH YES I DID! CROSSING THIS OFF PROUDLY! Vlogging has been the best part of my summer. I am extremely grateful that I have amazing friends and family who support and (to my surprise) even wanted to participate in my vlogs. Ya’ll are lovely. This is a …

I WENT TO A NUDE BEACH

I didn’t mean to go to a clothing optional beach, I just so happened to stumble upon one. I saw way too many body parts I could’ve lived without seeing but realized how much respect I have for those who can bare it all with confidence. Good on them! Although in that moment I felt extremely awkward and got out of there as quickly as I could, mostly because I was the one being stared at for having clothes on..

MY SUMMER GOALS 2015

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!! Oh yes, the day I list my SUMMM-AHH GOALS has arrived (hold for cheers and applause). This year is going to be a little different than in the past, but before I explain why, catch yourself up and on last years list by clicking HERE. Then, read how I accomplished all but ONE GOAL (still bitter about it) by clicking HERE. This summer, I have cut my list in half because homegirl needs a wee more time to accomplish two goals that are going to be kept hush hush, for now. All I will say is they both coincide with each other and if completed will (PLOT TWIST) completely change my life. Casual, I know. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, they won’t surprise you. If you have spoken to me in person for more than five minutes in the past two years, you already know. That is all I will reveal. Don’t hate me. The rest of you will find out soon. Promise. 🙂 JESSICA’S SUMMER GOALS 2015! …

Summer List 2014 – ACCOMPLISHED GOALS

SUMMER 2014 IS OVER! You know what that means… I GET TO SHARE HOW MANY SUMMER GOALS I ACCOMPLISHED and unaccomplished THIS YEAR! If you’re not caught up, click HERE to read the summer list update I wrote in July. I completed all but one goal this summer (sensitive subject I don’t want to talk about it). Other than that, I crossed off everything else – pretty proud of myself! ACCOMPLISHED SUMMER GOALS OF 2014 1. Go to an Asian grocery store and buy a cart full of unknown food, then haul it. These were my favourite purchase from the day. Matcha Green Tea Kit Kat bars, if you haven’t tried them, what are you doing with your life. 2. Make an ultimate summer playlist. 3. Watch an entire series of a TV show I’ve never seen before. SUITS!!! I’m all caught up. 😉 4. Volunteer. 5. Complete writing my book. Ok, listen. Technically I didn’t finish writing a book but I’m going to tell you why I’m still crossing it off. I’ve learned that a writer …
