Lost In Translation

Vogue: June 2013 “There are times when you can feel your childhood ending. It can be the birth of a child, the death of a loved one. For me, that moment in the dressing room was it. The professional work ethic that had been instilled in me since I was a little girl was shocked back to life, and I knew that not only would this man prevent me from being able to do my job, he would prevent me from growing into the strong and confident woman I needed to become…ending relationships is always difficult, but leaving Paris broke my heart. It took years to disentangle the man from the city that I had fallen for, and I found that it was impossible to go back. When I finally broke down and did visit, it was with the American man I ended up marrying and our four-year-old daughter over Christmas, fifteen years after I had moved there…“why are we here again?” my daughter asked…”because,” I told her, “this is where Mommy grew up.”

Summer 2013 Update: Part I

Guess who completed a couple summer goals in their first week. THIS GIRL! First goal crossed off was cleaning my room. It literally took me an entire day, but I had boxes and boxes of clothes, books and random childhood trinkets that I got rid of. I also got rid of the huge toy-box in my closet to make more room for my shoes. Weeeee! 🙂   Second goal I completed was my ultimate summer playlist (which can be seen by clicking HERE)! My favourite songs on the list are Could You Be Loved (You Never Know) by Audio Playground, Summer Young by Rascel Flatts and Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore! SUMMER 2013 GOAL!  1. Join a pilates class. 2. Make an ultimate summer playlist. 3.  Go to Wonderland and ride The Leviathan. 4. Completely clean my room and throw away/sell ANYTHING I do not need/wear/use. 5. Go on a picnic, basket and plaid blanket included. 6. Attend a drive-in. 7. Go to British Colombia and visit my friend. Must go surfing and whale watching. 8. Must visit the following restaurants: – BOOM …

Baked Zucchini Sticks, Library Books and Country Music

Hello friends, I had the most productive Saturday! My friend Kristin came over and we baked breaded zucchini sticks with homemade sweet onion dip, recipe found by clicking HERE! Note: cut the zucchini’s thicker than shown, they will have more of a crunch and flavour! Also, we went to the library to pick out every country C-D they had and yes, we actually took out C-D’s from the library. Who goes to the library anymore? We do and we love it. I also picked up some books for when I take my long train rides to work. I’m the kind of person who judges a book by its cover, so they’re all girly and probably meant for 14 year olds. Just so you know, I’m hoping every Sunday I can update you on my week, like a five-minute life re-cap! I will set my timer and write for five minutes straight and let you know how my week has been! I’m about four minutes in now, so I have to wrap this up. This week is my last week …

I Haven’t Packed A Model Bag In A Very Long Time

Hey everyone! Excuse any spelling mistakes, these are my nails right now… Completed nails will be done tomorrow! I’ll be modeling at the ABA show in Toronto and I’m sooo excited! I was thinking of what to pack and thought I’d share with you what I bring when I do a gig. Ten essentials for my modeling bag: 1. A very large tote – to carry all your essentials, duh! 2. iPod/ iPhone / charger – you dont want to be caught with a dead phone, especially on long days. 3. Water / snacks – usually it’s provided for you, but when it reaches 3 p.m. you’ll want an energy boost (i.e. granola bar or mini carrots). Remember to drink lots of water to stay hydrated and to keep your skin lookng great! 4. Slippers – I bring slippers to EVERY modeling event. I like being comfy and for my feet to rest from wearing six inch heels when I have down time. 5. Books / Magazines – there’s always a lot of waiting involved, so keep …

What’s In My Bag

Feeling nosey? Take a look at what I carry in my bag everyday! 🙂 My leather tote with the cute gold detailing is from Guess. My lovely boyfriend gave it to me as a birthday present! I love that it has a lot of storage space and it has choice of a long or short strap. It’s also the perfect size, not too big, not too small. I always carry the current book I’m reading. At the moment I’m reading the final book of the Harry Potter series (can you believe I’ve never read them as a kid?). Also, I keep a pen and paper with me at all times, just in case I need to jot down an idea, directions or contact information on the go. Gum is a purse essential. No one likes staaaaanky breath after lunch! I always chew half a piece at a time (I don’t know why I do that, I just always have). I also love having these Hello Kitty sniff’s for when winter gets the best of my …

That Amazing Moment When Eva Chen Responds To You…

…be right back, about to faint from happiness. moyjessi asks: Hi Eva! I’m a recent journalism grad and I’m interning at Weddingbells Magazine in Toronto. I LOVE it so far! My only concern is that I’m 22 and I feel like a lot of my friends are travelling and having the time of their lives. I told myself if I want to travel and take a year off, I’d go to Korea and teach English (everything is paid for and you can save A LOT), but now I’m conflicted because I love what I do now, but I do want to travel. I feel like if I travel I’ll be behind in my career.. evachen212 said: oh! this is a very timely—and appropriate—question to ask me, since I just relocated to Los Angeles for a few months. okay, my perspective: first of all, it’s marvelous that you’ve found a potential career that you love and that you have a passion for. that, in of itself, is exceptionally difficult and some people spend their whole lives trying …

Drive Me To A Desert

Today it felt like someone drove me to a desert, pushed me out of the car and just drove away. No place to go, no one to meet and nothing to look forward to. I felt no sense of direction, no guidance and no solid ground to claim my own. Actually, I didn’t just feel like this today. I’ve felt like this every day for about a month. In January I talked about how I want to travel for a year. I want to EXPERIENCE life. See things that will startle me, feel things I’ve never felt before…yadda yadda yadda… I thought this whole “experience life and travel” thing was just a phase and that I’ll get over it and be normal again. I haven’t. In an unhealthy way, it’s been affecting me. I feel angry, jealous, upset. I feel trapped, confused, heartbroken. I don’t want to sound like a Moaning Myrtle, but I genuinely get mad when I think of how I’m 22, still live at home and nothing remotely adventurous has happend to me since I travelled to …

Life As A Weddingbell

I’m not really sure what to title my intern posts, but we’ll play it by ear. If you want to see more, just click the “Weddingbell” tag at the bottom to see more behind the scene photos and recent posts I’ve written! Seriously, do it. Our first issue as interns! Also, haven’t had my coffee yet so I’m half asleep in this photo… Had the worst morning but it instantly got better with this bag on my desk! Our magazine featured at the “Wedding Magic” corner of a random news stand. Oscar Dela Renta. But like. Whatever right? So lucky to be around pretty things all day.
