She didn’t know what she thought…

“She didn’t know what she thought. Was Elphaba devil’s spawn? Was she half-elf? Was she punishment for her father’s failure as a preacher, or for her mother’s sloppy morals and bad memory? Or was she merely a physical ailment, a blight like a misshapen apple or a five-legged calf? Nanny knew her worldview was foggy and chaotic. Perhaps, thought Nanny, little green Elphaba chose her own sex, and her own colour, and to hell with her parents.”

Georgia Clay – Josh Kelley

When life was nothing more than living for the night
Just trying to steal a kiss on a tailgate of that ride
Good old days don’t wash away
Man, some things they just don’t change
Just like that Georgia clay
All over everything, every last memory,
It’s all coming back to me

I Haven’t Packed A Model Bag In A Very Long Time

Hey everyone!

Excuse any spelling mistakes, these are my nails right now…

Screen Shot 2013-03-23 at 9.47.51 PM

Completed nails will be done tomorrow! I’ll be modeling at the ABA show in Toronto and I’m sooo excited! I was thinking of what to pack and thought I’d share with you what I bring when I do a gig.

Ten essentials for my modeling bag:

1. A very large tote – to carry all your essentials, duh!

2. iPod/ iPhone / charger – you dont want to be caught with a dead phone, especially on long days.

3. Water / snacks – usually it’s provided for you, but when it reaches 3 p.m. you’ll want an energy boost (i.e. granola bar or mini carrots). Remember to drink lots of water to stay hydrated and to keep your skin lookng great!

4. Slippers – I bring slippers to EVERY modeling event. I like being comfy and for my feet to rest from wearing six inch heels when I have down time.

5. Books / Magazines – there’s always a lot of waiting involved, so keep entertained.

6. Extra pair of black pumps – two years ago I fainted on stage because the shoes given to me were two sizes too small. It cut off all my circulation. Now I always bring an extra pair just in case.

7. Make-up remover wipes -I use public transit and sometimes I don’t want to go home with a pound of makeup.

8. Extra make-up – your favourite moisturizer, foundation and mascara usually.

9. Extra underwear – beige and black. Specific underwear is worn with different coloured outfits.

10. A positive attitude – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worked with models with sour attitudes. No one (makeup artists, photographers, designers, etc) wants to work with a diva. They are never called back again. Be polite and respectful of everyone’s time.

What’s In My Bag

Feeling nosey? Take a look at what I carry in my bag everyday! 🙂

My leather tote with the cute gold detailing is from Guess. My lovely boyfriend gave it to me as a birthday present! I love that it has a lot of storage space and it has choice of a long or short strap. It’s also the perfect size, not too big, not too small.

I always carry the current book I’m reading. At the moment I’m reading the final book of the Harry Potter series (can you believe I’ve never read them as a kid?). Also, I keep a pen and paper with me at all times, just in case I need to jot down an idea, directions or contact information on the go.

Gum is a purse essential. No one likes staaaaanky breath after lunch! I always chew half a piece at a time (I don’t know why I do that, I just always have). I also love having these Hello Kitty sniff’s for when winter gets the best of my nose (or allergies). I also always carry either Tylenol, Gravol or Ibuprofen because you never want a headache, cramps or an upset stomach to ruin your day.

I carry sunglasses all year round! These are my winter shades from DKNY. I also carry lip gloss and my Rosebud Salve within the easy-to-reach pocket inside my purse. Also, in that pocket, I carry my travel size hand sanitizer in Creamy Pumpkin and hand lotion in Cozy Autumn Vanilla. They smell so yummy! I don’t know who else does this, but I carry extra jewellery incase I forgot to put on any bling that day (usually peal earrings and bracelet). I also carry a teasing comb, hair ties and bobby-pins.

iPhone and ear plugs. Essentials.

I have a packed make-up bag, but trust me, I need all of it! I carry this much because I can unexpectedly decide to sleep over at a friends or my boyfriends house after work. Therefore, I have everything I need for the next day! If I only had to carry five of these, I’d choose my Olay lotion with shea butter, Avon highlighter in Revitalized, Maybelline Turbo Boost mascara, Too Faced brow pencil and Maybelline Dream Matte Powder.

Definitely need to carry my key chain around. It holds important cards such as my Presto card (to take the train every day) and security card (to get into my building at work).

My Chanel wallet holds all my cash dollars ($6.13…….aka lunch money). I’m notorious for saving all my old movie tickets (the one featured is “Safe Haven” but I have ones as old as the first “Hangover” movie). I also carry the important cards such as a Snakes and Lattes gift card, Sephora Insider card and my Plum Rewards for when I buy my monthly magazines.

That is all! Hope you all enjoyed the contents of my purse!

Sanitizer Insanity

IMG_6427

I’m a sucker for cute packaging. If the product either has glitter, any shade of pink, a skull or a bow – I have to have it  (even if the product itself is horrendous). You can tell these hand sanitizers from Bath & Body Works sucked me right in. How could I resist with the adorable size and colours, PLUS they smell exactly how they are labelled. Not sure sure if they properly sanitize my hands. I haven’t been sick this year yet (knock on wood), so I’m going to say the ingredient of “Tahitian Palm Milk” is the steller bacteria killer. These sanitizers come in hundreds of varieties and retail at about $1.75 each (or sometimes they have a special where you can get 5 for $5)!

Here are my top four favourite hand sanitizer scents!

1. Creamy Pumpkin: I was born in October, so I feel like I’m naturally attracted to love fall scents. Pumpkin is my all-time favourite smell (aside from vanilla and coconut), so I keep this with me on-the-go at all times.

2. Vanilla Cupcake: I actually want to lick my hands after I put this on, and (surprisingly) the smell of cupcakes lingers for a couple hours. Very impressive.

3. Paris Amour: My friend got me into this one. It’s not usually a scent I would pick up (it has a lot of girly, floral notes), but I tried it out and I LUUURVE it. It has the tiniest glitter pieces inside to make your hand subtly spark.

4. Warm Apple Cider: Again with my love of fall scents. I used to work on a farm that sold hot apple cider! When you walked in the market, the smell of fresh cider filled the air. I loved it. This scent brings back good memories and reminds me of home.
