Better bronzing: 5 organic and natural self-tanners that make getting a glow even safer

Normally we would have blown through at least a few bottles of sunscreen by now, but with the constant rain and cloudiness this summer, we’ve been reaching for the self-tanner instead. Even if we aren’t busting out a bikini every weekend, we still want our limbs looking bronzed and healthy. There is quite the range of self tanner options available that offer different finishes depending on your skin tone and the level of bronze you’re looking for. But what we’re fixated on right now is growing number of natural and organic tanners geared toward those of us who want to green our beauty routine. While faux glow and all-natural products may not seem like the most obvious pairing, it’s one that makes sense. After all, if you’re avoiding damage from the sun, it’s just as important to avoid the harmful chemicals and additives that many self-tanners can contain. But before we share our paraben- and silicone-free picks, some self-tanning 101: don’t forget to exfoliate. We can’t stress enough how important it is to polish your …

Weddingbells Fall/Winter ’13 & FASHION August ’13

There’s no other feeling like seeing your work and name published inside a magazine. Weddingbells F/W ’13 issue came out this month and I can’t believe how amazing it turned out! Not that I’m surprised, the team was awesome to work with and they’re all super talented. I worked on two photoshoots as a style assistant (and drooled over all the pretty dresses), wrote a national wedding and various other real weddings – all published in this issue! It’s so, so beautiful. I seriously almost cried of happiness. You should pick up a copy, it’s 422 pages of magic. FASHION August ’13 issue with Demi Lovato also came out this month. I truly hope that feeling of accomplishment and seeing my name published never gets old.

What Would You Say?

I’d like to think I give pretty good advice. At least, that’s what my friends tell me. I always have something to say in every situation, whether it’s positive or giving some tough love. Even if I don’t have proper advice, I crack out my cheesy jokes and I can at least make them laugh. Or, I’ll get them ice cream, because everyone is happy when they have ice cream. I may not have been through a whole lot to know exactly how a person is feeling in certain situations, but I think I’m pretty good at getting inside their head and figuring out how to fix it or what to say to make them realize that not everything is lost. Until the other day. I was with my friend and he opened up to me in a way I never thought he would. He told me the saddest, most heartbreaking story about what’s going on in his life. Everything I thought was tough in my own life went right out the window. When he finished talking, …

Special Thanks From A University of Toronto Graduate

I feel incredibly happy and proud for surviving the past four and a half years. I’ve had such an amazing experience at U of T and I’m so lucky to have had unbelievable support. My graduation ceremony was surprisingly well organized (it was only an hour) and our speaker, Tanya Mars, kept her speech short, sweet, and inspirational. The day was perfect to reunite with old friends and to officially have that expensive piece of paper in my hands. HONOURS BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE! *happy dance, happy dance, happy dance* I want to send one last thank you to everyone who have made my university experience incredible: – My loving family for dealing with my stress and mood swings during exam time. Also, big thank you for my parents for driving me to school every morning (special thanks to my mom for screaming “I LOVE YOU! HAVE A GREAT DAY!” every time I walked out of the car). – My friends, there are so many of you, I don’t know where to start. Thank you to those who …
