How to get bombshell eyelashes just like Katy Perry

Katy Perry is something of a beauty chameleon. She’s sampled almost every hair colour, can rock a statement lip just as well as a neutral shade and her big blue eyes are completely captivating. While her makeup routine is no doubt always changing, one thing remains consistent: Perry’s bombshell eyelashes. Full of volume, the secret to her iconic lashes is more than an excellent mascara—it’s the work of lash extensions. We spoke to Good Gosh Beauty extension expert Lauren Kurtz about our quest to get the Katy Perry look. Whether you want to try a set of lash extensions or aspire to DIY it at home with false lashes, Kurtz has you covered. If you have small or brittle lashes, extensions are a great way to naturally enhance your eyes. One-by-one, a lash artist will adhere individual synthetic lashes onto your own, making them longer, thicker and curvier—and they can last up to a month. If it’s just a one-night fix you seek, Kurtz shares her foolproof tips for false eyelash application. Read on and see just how easy is …

WHAT IS A “REAL WOMAN’S” FIGURE?

I notice a lot of people when they describe a curvier women they say, “she has a real woman’s figure.” She has a REAL woman’s figure? Does that mean females who aren’t as curvy are not “real women?” I know a few of my guy friends prefer a curvier body on a lady, which is fine, it’s all about preference. However, I can’t STAND when they describe it as, “a real woman’s body.” So, just because I don’t wear DD’s I’m suddenly not a “real” woman? When people say something that demeans other females and puts them into a category, it’s a judgement on their ignorance and respect towards others. If you are going to judge, judge a woman on how she carries herself, her independence, work ethic and who she chooses to be friends with. Body type has nothing to do with who “real” women are.

My top 10 Favourite YouTubers

I’m a huge YouTube geek. Watching, shooting, editing. It’s basically my life. Here are a few of my favourite people to watch. Most are fashion/beauty channels, but there are some pop-culture and entertainment channels as well. Also, I want to give a shout-out to Blair Fowler (JuicyStar07) because she was the one that influenced me to do YouTube videos in the first place! 🙂 1. Gigi Gorgeous is SO funny. I trust his opinions, love that he’s from Toronto and always tells it like it is. 2. Bethany Mota is HUGE on YouTube. She has nearly 4,000,000 subscribers and deserves every single one of them. Her videos are great quality and has had great success through her channel, including her own clothing line at Aeropostale.  2. KeepingUpWithKell also has a beauty channel, but I love watching her daily vlogs. I feel like her and I are best friends even though we’ve never met. 4. Lauren Elizabeth makes me laugh. Simple as that. She’s just as sarcastic as I am and has great fashion sense. 5. Meghan Rosette is gorgeous. …

My scents – listed best to worst

1. YSL Manifesto – Anyone with good taste who walks by you will wonder what magical scent you’re wearing. It lasts all day (especially in your hair) and once you smell it, you will buy it. It combines two of my favourite smells: vanilla and jasmine. Mmm. Can we also acknowledge how luxurious this bottle looks? Fantastic. 2. CK One Shock – This is definitely a playful day scent. It’s subtle and sweet with my favourite scents (again): vanilla and jasmine, only this one has sweeter notes like passion fruit and blackberry. 3. Victoria’s Secret Amber Romance – Throughout university, this is what I sprayed on myself before I walked out the door. People who sat beside me always told me I smelt great. Creepy, but was still flattered. It’s a subtle smell of vanilla but has a bit of spice which gives it punch. 4. Express Glam – A fresh, flower-type scent with vanilla and blackberry (can you tell I like the same kind of scents). I’ll wear this if I am going out …

What I want for Christmas – 2013

I’ve been noticing my “What I Want For Christmas” post from last year is getting a lot of hits. Makes sense. It’s the festive holiday season and civilians on the interweb are on the hunt for gift ideas. So, I thought to myself – “what do I want for Christmas this year…” I typically write a list of materialistic items, print it out and leave it on the fridge for various family members to see. While I’d appreciate a nice knitted sweater or two, to be honest, I don’t want anything. Seriously. I don’t NEED anything. Plus, what I truly want this year is not something someone can wrap in a big red bow. Lately, I’ve been making a serious effort to re-start myself. This means working on my confidence, health, learning new skills, letting a variety of new friends into my life and most importantly, pin-pointing exactly where I want my career to go. It’s certainly a process, but an important one nonetheless. The year 2014 is a fresh canvas and I’ve been preparing myself to be …
