Quality over quantity

Life is about new experiences and forming great relationships. It’s about the people who enter your life and, unfortunately, it is also about the people who leave it. I believe everyone you meet, you meet for a reason. Whether they gave you faith, provided a home, broke your heart or made you smile – you can write at least ONE lesson every person in your life has taught you. Those who aren’t in mine anymore, they’ve taught me the most important lesson. It’s in that moment when you both realize your friendship or relationship is over. Suddenly, whether ending in good or bad terms, all the memories you’ve ever had together come rushing back from when you were both happy and felt like you’d have forever. Then you realize, you don’t. As cliche as it sounds, every ending has a new beginning. There’s an entire world you haven’t yet met. Saying good-bye will always be hard, but as sappy as it sounds, no one can take away the memories you had together. I always believe …

The Balm: Manizer Duo Kit (Review/Demo)

LIKE: – Packaging is ADORABLE. Betty-Lou is so bronzed and pretty, ugh I miss summer. – Quirky names. – Product picks up well on brushes. – Creamy, smooth texture. – Natural looking when applied. – Includes a fantastic mirror (you can see your entire face). – Multi-purpose products. Use as eyeshadow or bronzer/luminizer. – Neither have glitter, love the glowy sheen. DISLIKE: – The bronzer fell out of its packaging. As you can see, I have A LOT of positive feedback for The Balm’s Manizer Duo Kit! Highly recommend both products, especially for the Spring/Summer months. Betty-Lou and Mary-Lou would radiate beautifully in direct sunlight. Love them – new obsession!  I’ll let you in on a little secret: All of The Balm products ship FREE within Canada from ObsessedCanada.com (The Manizer Duo Kit is on SALE for $36.00 from $48.00). Let me know if you give it a go and what you think! 🙂

Tuck Shop Trading Co.

Ummmmmmmm so I need this. Like, will-do-anything-including-shovel-your-driveway-and-make-you-dinner-tonight-type of need. My friends Vanessa (shout-out girl) wore a cute Queen West toque a couple weeks ago and I immediately fell in love. I never see trendy pieces of clothing I’d actually wear that incorporate Toronto (especially when they look mega tourist-y), but these are just so darn cute. I came across them again today and have a serious urge to splurge. Produced by a company called Tuck Shop Trading Co., these toques ($35 each) are totes amaze-balls and represent your favourite Toronto hood. So, does the model come with the toque too? I also like/want this coat from the Tuck Shop as well. Just need to save up $445.

The beauty of being awkward

Think back to all the awkward situations, photos or conversations you’ve ever had in your life, the ones that make you cringe from sheer embarrassment or smile from a sentimental, unexpected moment. Think back to a successful date with someone you genuinely care about. That moment before you both go in for that first kiss. You smile, hesitate and (to dispel the awkward) you just go for it. The feeling of excitement and anticipation is a small part of life we often take for granted. Think back to when you were a teenager (or twenties, or thirties or anytime in your life you felt lost). The awkwardness of discovering who you are and what you want to do with your life. You stumble, fall and have no fucking idea what you’re doing. As awkward as it gets when you’re going through the motions, it’s those days of fumbling and picking yourself back up you truly discover where you’re meant to be. Being awkward makes you human. It makes life interesting. Good or bad, it keeps us on the …

This is how my week went

My friend Katie and I bought cute friendship necklaces from Target because everything we talk about is irrelephant…..get it. But also because they symbolize good luck and we both desperately need that in our lives. I took a lovely morning stroll in Toronto. Saw Goldroom perform at Wrongbar. Not sure who he is? Check out his songs below! Embrace – Goldroom Only You Can Show Me – Goldroom Saw some pretty cool graffiti. Had a craving for a ginger molasses cookie from Starbucks, so obviously…this happened… Like any of these photos? ALL can be seen on my Instagram! Add me and let’s be friends! 🙂 instagram.com/jessica_moy

Heart of Life

Wasn’t having the best day, but my boy John Mayer came to the rescue. This song played randomly on my iPod and it made me feel SO much better. If you’re having one of those days as well, I hope this song makes you realize that the heart of life is certainly good. Stay positive! Heart of Life – John Mayer Pain throws your heart to the ground Love turns the whole thing around Fear is a friend who’s misunderstood But I know the heart of life is good

Liberal Arts

Here is another great movie I recommend, especially if you have an arts degree. Yes YOU, the one who studied history, English or theatre (a.k.a, setting yourself up to be fully unemployable), you’ll definitely appreciate this film. Starring Ted Mosby, an Olsen sister that isn’t Mary-Kate or Ashley and my boyfriend Zac Efron, Liberal Arts is a witty, well-written flick that focuses on a relationship between two characters who challenge each other intellectually. The premise of the movie is more or less about books and how fiction is medicine for the lonely. Yet, if you escape reality too much, you forget to live your own life. The film also teaches you about improv. If there’s one rule in improv, you can never say “no” – you always have to go with whatever is thrown at you. However, the film doesn’t focus on the theatre aspect of improv, but reminds you that we as humans have improvised our entire lives. Nothing in life is scripted, it just happens and you always have to roll with the punches. …
