Winter drinks at Second Cup

You can already feel the chill of winter whisking through the city. Breathe in that smell of frost and feel the cold air rush down your lungs and chill your entire body. Brr, I’m cold just thinking about it. With winter around the corner, I look forward to something a little more steamy this time of year. That being said, I would like to announce…

SECOND CUP HAS THEIR WINTER MENU OUT!

* HAPPY DANCE *

Here are a few I’ll be trying this season! Let me know your favourites below! 🙂

Candy Cane Latte – “A delicious and refreshing hint of candy cane flavour, coupled with espresso and white chocolate notes.”

Toasted Marshmallow Latte – “Perfectly pulled espresso and hand crafted microfoam meld marvellously with the sweetness of a marshmallow toasted to golden. Topped off with a cloud of toasted marshmallow flavoured whipped cream and our own butter-graham sugar sprinkles.”

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Hey everyone!

I’m currently reading the fifth book of the Harry Potter series (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). I’ve never read the series as a child, so I’m catching up on all the hype. Better late than never.

I’ve obviously already read Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite thus far. There were more adventures at Hogwarts, the plot had twists and turns with every chapter and you had more of an understanding of Harry Potter’s history with the introduction of the “real” Sirius Black.

Having never read the books nor seen the last couple movies, I actually have NO idea what happens in the end. When someone mentions anything about the last book or movie, I immediately cover my ears (it’s happened on a few occasions). I’ll let you know how I like it when I finish! 🙂

What’s your favourite book in the series?

Remember, don’t tell me ANYTHING that happens…or else…I’ll turn you into a toad.

What I want for Christmas

I get it. Christmas isn’t for a month and a half, but I prepared my list for my family and friends to see, just incase they were wondering what lovely, materialistic things I want for the holidays. 😉

1. Headphones

Whether I’m at school, reading or walking down the street, I have my I-Pod playing pretty much all day. I hate the little earbuds that come with your I-Pod. They keep falling from my ears and they break SO easily. I swear I’ve been through at least six of them within this past year. These ones are Beats By Dre, but any earphones that resemble this in any colour will be perfect!

2. Bedsheets

I’ve had the same ones since high school. Time to be a grown up. I LOVE these ones from Urban Outfitters! Black and white patterns (like the photo below) are my favourite.

3. Clothes Rack ($12)

I’ve wanted one for years, and I have no idea why I haven’t just gone out and got it for myself. Regardless, this one is from IKEA!

4. Running Shoes

Is it weird that I don’t own running shoes? I’m super athletic, and I have indoor soccer shoes, but I don’t have actual running shoes. This needs to change if I’m going to conquer the world next year. LOVE LOVE LOVE these ones from Nike. I’m a size 9.5 if you’re wondering.

5. Too Faced Natural Radiance Face Palette ($48)

I’ve seen great reviews on this product and Too Faced is one of my favourite companies! You can get this at Sephora! It comes with bronzer, creme blush, powder blush, concealer, luminizer and brightener.

6. Tarte: Luxe List Amazonian Clay Colour Collection and Woven Clutch ($57)

UMM HOW ARE YOU! THIS COLLECTION IS AMAZING! It comes with a brush, mascara, eye-shadow quad, finishing powder, lip luster, luminizing wand, eye pencil in black, and a woven zip clutch. You can get this at Sephora.

7. Sephora Favourites: In the Glow Set ($54)

I’m obsessed. I mean. Why is this so perfect. It comes with Benefit High Beam, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder, Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in Flush, Stila Convertible Color in Peony, Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Splendor, Lorac Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder in Spotlight, bareMinerals All Over Face Color in Pure Radiance, Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Golden Mosaic, and Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna. You can get this at Sephora.

8. Benefit: POREfessionally Pretty ($36)

I don’t neeeeeeeeeeed this, but I’ve seen so many beauty gurus rave about it and I’d love to try it out! It comes with Erase Paste, Girls Meets Pearl, and POREfessional. You can also get this at Sephora.

Love Song

This song from the 90’s played on the radio this morning, it brought back so many good memories! 🙂

Love Song – Sky

Then she decides that the dogs they belong inside
It’s a never ending ride you’re taking
I can decide for you hey
It’s kinda like a love song

Ten things I don’t like but wish I did

1. Basketball

Growing up, I have memories of my hands being disgustingly covered with dirt and sweat from basketballs, and I hated that. Since then, I’ve always been turned off by the sport. I want to like it because I want to be able to slam dunk and casually dribble the ball through my legs like they do in Space Jam…but I just can’t.

2. Scrambled eggs

I’ve never liked the smell or taste of eggs. However, once in a blue moon I’ll make sausage and toast and WANT to scramble some eggs because they’re easy to make and healthy for you, but I can’t get myself to eat them. They smell like feet.

3. Cats

What a boring, vicious animal. All the do is creep up and bite you when you try to pet them. I want to like them because seeing pictures of kittens melt my heart, but I’m pretty sure they’re the spawn of satan.

4. Action movies

My boyfriend has taken me to at least a dozen action movies. I would name them, but they all blend into the same storyline. One guy’s mad, they shoot each other, a hot girl in a bikini appears, more guns, some bombs, a long car chase, and in the end the good guy walks away looking like a bad ass. Honestly, I could care less. I wished I liked them for my boyfriend. Poor guy.

5. Yoga

It looks like a fun workout, but I’m not flexible in the slightest. My limbs are too long to bend in weird downward dog ways.

6. Plane rides

Especially ones that last longer than 3 hours. It’s dreadful. I wish I liked them so traveling would be less stressful.

7. Green tea

I want to be sophisticated and drink green tea from expensive china saucers. I can’t though, it actually tastes like dirt.

8. Dexter

I don’t get it. I’ve watched the first couple episodes and I don’t understand why it’s so popular. Perhaps it’s not my kind of show, but it’s a total downer when EVERYONE and their moms rave about it. What am I missing?

9. Swimming

For those of you who can just dive into a pool and swim around like a fish. I hate you.

10. Philosophy

It sounds cheesey, but I truly love talking about life, knowledge, values, language, etc. I think the whole subject of philosophy is fascinating. However, I took philosophy in grade 12 for a week and I hated it. I had no idea what my teacher was talking about. I hope in the future I could give it another chance.

Love Etc.

I felt a hundred different emotions after watching Love Etc. It followed the daily lives of 5 different couples (straight, gay, young, old, married) around New York City. At the end of the documentary, all the couples ended up differently. Some stayed together, some broke up, some got surprising news, etc. I felt emotionally connected to each couple, which is why I feel a mix of happy, angry, sad, endeared, and hopeful by the end.

This was my favourite couple! They’ve been together for nearly 50 years!

“Honey you need to get into bed.”

“Not yet, I need to look cute *adjusts her hoodie ove her head* this is going to be a thing!”

I’M 22 TODAY

I’m having the best birthday so far! My boyfriend got Cirque Du Soleil tickets for us last night (amazing!) and my mom is currently making homemade lasagna (my fav!) for dinner. I’m a spoiled, lucky girl today! 🙂

I can’t wait to see what I’m going to do while I’m twenty two (that rhymed). Apparently it’s one of the best years of your life! Big decisions, beginning of a career, new relationships, friends, adventures, and graduation! I have a lot to look forward to at this age and I can’t wait to share them all with you,

XO
