Special Thanks From A University of Toronto Graduate

I feel incredibly happy and proud for surviving the past four and a half years. I’ve had such an amazing experience at U of T and I’m so lucky to have had unbelievable support. My graduation ceremony was surprisingly well organized (it was only an hour) and our speaker, Tanya Mars, kept her speech short, sweet, and inspirational. The day was perfect to reunite with old friends and to officially have that expensive piece of paper in my hands. HONOURS BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE! *happy dance, happy dance, happy dance* I want to send one last thank you to everyone who have made my university experience incredible: – My loving family for dealing with my stress and mood swings during exam time. Also, big thank you for my parents for driving me to school every morning (special thanks to my mom for screaming “I LOVE YOU! HAVE A GREAT DAY!” every time I walked out of the car). – My friends, there are so many of you, I don’t know where to start. Thank you to those who …

Athletic Banquet 2013

It feels bittersweet to have attended my final UTSC Athletic Banquet. I’ve learned so much from my coaches and teammates over the past four years and I’m sad I’ll never lace up my skates or ride those big yellow buses to games anymore. Thanks to everyone who made my UTSC athletic experience unforgettable. To my soccer girls, you were the first team I’ve joined at UTSC and I’m SO glad I did. I’m proud to have played on a team that stopped at nothing to win a championship. You girls are passionate and energetic and it makes me proud to have played with you all (alumni included). Keep rookie night alive and keep beating UTM. To my hockey girls, thank you for all the hilarious locker room talks and eventful late night practices. We may have not won a season or a tournament, but we had the tenacity every team who played us envied. Never give up! To my hockey guys, you’re all goons. Thank you for understanding that I need to blast and dance to Keith Urban …

UTSC women’s soccer team – champions

I can’t believe it. My last UTSC soccer game and I not only scored twice, but my team won the CHAMPIONSHIPS! It’s an unreal, bittersweet feeling. The game ended with the final score of 3-1. We played against our rivals UTM and throughout the entire game I couldn’t stop pacing. My adrenaline was rushing, heart was pumping, and palms were sweating because I didn’t want my last soccer game at UTSC to be a disappointment. During the game, there seemed to be an abundance of pushing, shoving, fouls, penalty kicks, and a few curse words being thrown every now and again. Even though my body was aching from an all-day hockey tournament the day before, I was determined to not leave the field until I was wheezing and on the verge of fainting. We go hard in Scarborough. If this team has taught me anything throughout the past four years, it’s determination, tenacity, and knowing you’re never alone – on or off the field. I can’t even begin to explain the friendships I’ve developed on this team. Whether these girls calmed me down on the field, …

Pulse: UTSC students support Varsity Blues Football

Hey everyone! First off, welcome back to another fantastic school year! Whether you’ve entered your first year (little rookies) or fifty-sixth year (oldtimers, like myself) I hope your first week went swimmingly. For those of you who are new to UTSC Pulse, my name is Jessica and I will be providing you with regular Tuesday posts regarding UTSC athletics and fitness! I’m not actually in my fifty-sixth year of undergrad (even though it feels like it), I’m a fifth-year journalism student and will be graduating this June (eeks)! I have been an active athlete at our school, playing soccer and hockey, not to mention the odd belly-dancing and zumba class. My goal is to promote fresh and exciting news about UTSC sports, fitness programs, and events! The difference between me and a website or newspaper who will just “promote” is that I promise to participate in all I write about (example, my video last year of me attempting belly-dancing which you can watch by clicking: HERE). The school year has only started a week ago, but I have already …
