NEW YEAR, NEW ME?

HAPPY 2018 MY LOVES! Typically around the holiday season I get a little somber, especially since it’s my third year in a row away from my family. But, if I learned anything from the past few years is that you make your own happiness. I repeat: YOU MAKE YOUR OWN HAPPINESS! Instead of curling into a ball and hiding away, on Christmas Eve I headed to Seoul to be with my friend Annie and celebrate December 25th with red bean donuts, ice skating, and treating myself with skincare related prezzies. And of course, I vlogged it all for ya. My New Years Eve was way less eventful. I bundled up at home in my thickest blanket, gathered my favorite junk food (chicken burgers, french fries, popcorn, and chocolate ice cream), and had a solo Harry Potter movie marathon. It. Was. Ah-mazing. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is by far the best movie of them all. I fell asleep around 11PM (lol, living the dream!) and woke up at 1:30AM with texts from my family …

LONDON, ENGLAND

Before we begin, catch yourself up on my life before I jet set off to Europe. In the below vlog, I go curling with the fam jam, show you beauty pieces I wrote for FASHION and update you on my move to Korea. Watch. Now. Perfect, you are caught up. ALLO! Welcome to my post on my visit to LONDON, ENGLAND! I touched down at Gatwick Airport and my first thought (dead serious) was “I AM IN THE LAND OF SPICE GIRLS!” Truth: The day Geri Halliwell left the band was the first time I ever experienced heartbreak. After a 6 hour flight from Toronto I checked into The Royal National Hotel, a HUGE hostel near Russell Square Station. I was a little nervous to stay at the hostel since I had no idea who my roommates would be and had to share a room with them, whether I liked it or not. In my two nights I got to know two wonderful ladies. One who was embarking on a European adventure (like myself!) and one who finished. …

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Hey all! Let me just first off say that Order of the Phoenix had the most intense ending of all time. I had to re-read the last few pages because I wanted to fully understand what was happening. I was literally sweating during the final battle because so much happened all at once! I was immediately struck and caught off guard when one my favourite characters, Sirius Black, was killed. HE WAS THE LAST BIT OF FAMILY HARRY HAD WHO UNDERSTOOD AND CARED FOR HIM! UGH! WHY VOLDEMORT, WHY! Does anyone else feel a little scared saying Voldemort’s name out loud? Just me? Ok. Even though in the end I felt sorry for Harry, I truly loved the way J.K. Rowling put emphasis on human emotion and recovery. There was a quote Dumbledore said after Harry told him how angry and upset he was after his godfather, Sirius, had died: “The fact that you can feel pain like this is your greatest strength…suffering like this proves you are still a man! This pain is part of being human.” It reminded …

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Hey everyone! I’m currently reading the fifth book of the Harry Potter series (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). I’ve never read the series as a child, so I’m catching up on all the hype. Better late than never. I’ve obviously already read Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite thus far. There were more adventures at Hogwarts, the plot had twists and turns with every chapter and you had more of an understanding of Harry Potter’s history with the introduction of the “real” Sirius Black. Having never read the books nor seen the last couple movies, I actually have NO idea what happens in the end. When someone mentions anything about the last book or movie, I immediately cover my ears (it’s happened on a few occasions). I’ll let you know how I like it when I finish! 🙂 What’s your favourite book in the series? Remember, don’t tell me ANYTHING that happens…or else…I’ll turn you into a toad. XO Jessica
